Be Musically Fit
Bringing discipline from the gym to the keyboard to inspire muscial creativity

Musical Foundations
Laura's journey began at a young age, immersed in the world of music. With a strong foundation in classical piano and music theory, she continued studies at Texas Tech and at Southern Methodist University with Dr. Samuel Holland (Pedagogy) and Alfred Mouledous (Performance). Her passion for music not only shaped her as a pianist but also fueled her desire to inspire others to express themselves through music.

Performing Art
Music is a performing art designed to be shared in a variety of venues, from our homes to the stage. In 2025, Laura had the opportunity to perform a World Premiere composition by Giordi Frederick at Carnegie Hall in New York City. She also guided students from the Centre for Musical Minds (directed by Kristin Yost) who performed in a program called "Timeless Favorites".
Fitness Enthusiasm
Laura's passion for fitness complements her musical journey. Understanding the importance of physical well-being, she incorporates fitness routines into her daily life at CrossFit and on the tennis court. This balance not only enhances her performance but also allows her to promote a holistic approach to health and creativity, inspiring her students to embrace both mind and body.
Individualized Learning
Laura believes that every student is unique and deserves a personalized approach to learning. By tailoring her teaching methods to fit individual needs, she ensures that each student can thrive at their own pace and develop a genuine connection with music. Over the years she has also written her own music and materials which will be available for purchase on this website.

Better Together
Forming connections with students is how Laura builds trust as she guides them to become better versions of themselves. Playing duets with other students and hosting group classes and performances are a few examples of how Laura builds community with her students.

Lifelong Learning
Music and piano can be explored and enjoyed for a lifetime. At Augustana University and Southern Methodist University, Laura McAllaster held faculty positions that allowed her to mentor and train other teachers. She loves collaborating and staying current with research and trends in music education.
